There are two main types of lightning hazards: direct and indirect.

Direct lightning protection: in tall buildings set up metal lightning conductor into the ground, including lightning rod, lightning belt, grounding device, can be a huge storm cloud charge release. All the electrical equipment in the PHOTOVOLTAIC system is not protected against direct lightning.

Protection against inductive lightning: The photovoltaic system has lightning protection modules in the bus box, inverter and other electrical equipment to protect against indirect lightning strikes. The inverter has two level lightning protection and three level lightning protection. The two level lightning protection adopts the lightning protection module. It is generally used for medium and large photovoltaic power stations with no tall buildings around the power station.

Distributed photovoltaic power generation system is equipped with lightning protection device, normal lightning weather need not be disconnected. In case of severe thunderstorms, it is recommended to turn off the DC switch of the inverter or bus box and cut off the circuit connection with the PV module to avoid damage caused by inductive lightning.

Check the lightning protection facilities to ensure that the lightning connector, offline lead, and grounding system are normal. Ensure that the short-circuit resistance of the lightning protection grounding system is less than 4 ohms. Periodically check the performance of the lightning protection module in the device to prevent its failure.
